Basic Information

Oil palm is a tree native to Africa, scientifically named Elaeis guineensis. This tree is mainly cultivated in large quantities in Malaysia and Indonesia, and accounts for more than 85% of the world's palm oil production. Palm oil extracted from the fruit of the oil palm is used in various industries such as soap, cosmetics, candles, biofuel, and lubricants. In addition, palm kernel oil is widely used in the manufacture of food such as margarine, ice cream, chocolate, and cookies.

Detailed Description

Fertilizers should be applied in appropriate amounts and at the right time depending on the growth stage of oil palm and soil type. For example, during the early growth stage, more nitrogen fertilizers are used, and during the fruiting stage, more potassium fertilizers are used. Also, it is recommended to apply fertilizers after accurately determining the required nutrients through soil analysis. Oil palm trees grow to about 20 meters, and small flowers are densely packed on short branches to form large oval fruits. The outer fleshy part of the fruit is used to obtain palm oil, and the seeds are used to obtain palm kernel oil.

Nitrogen (N) promotes leaf and stem growth of oil palm trees and increases overall photosynthetic efficiency, which is a nutrient needed for trees to grow quickly in the early stages of growth. Phosphorus (P) is an important nutrient for root growth and fruit formation, allowing trees to absorb water and nutrients better to produce healthy fruits. Potassium (K) is used in the form of potassium chloride, which increases the oil content of the fruit and affects its quality. Magnesium (Mg) promotes the photosynthesis of trees, which helps them stay healthy and grow. Sulfur (S) is an essential nutrient for protein synthesis and enzymatic action in Oil Palm trees and plays an important role in palm oil production.
